History of InterMission

History of InterMission

In 2006, InterMission began with the intense desire of its organizers to serve missionary families.  It has grown as the Lord has opened doors of opportunity. The mission had grown from seeds planted in the hearts of John and Beth Reese, Kent and Nancy Hartman, and Clay and Cherry Hart through their own paths through the missionary world.  Coming together to discuss their own dreams for helping other missionary families, they found that God had brought them together for a common purpose.  The team began to think and plan, but always the plan was to let God do the leading.  This has formed the basis of InterMission history.  As God prepares a door and leads the way, the team endeavors to go through that door.

Following the open doors, new developments have opened up through the years.

2006       Global Reunion started for MK’s 13-18

2007       Global Reunion added weekend sessions for parents

2008       Global Reunion expanded to age 21 (flexible)

The first ReEntry InterMission was held.

2009       InterMission South Africa became the first international InterMission

Other missionaries joined the team as visiting facilitators.

2010       InterMission went online:  www.intermissionministry.org

2011       Global Reunion expanded parent sessions to the whole camp session.

ReEntry InterMissions began to be held twice a year.

Programs were added for the children to ReEntry InterMissions.

2012       Global Reunion added sessions for younger siblings.

InterMission added helping congregations with their missionary care.

Edward and Sharon Short joined the InterMission team.

2013       The Church of Christ on Country Club Road in Ennis, Texas, became the official sponsors.

How will InterMission grow next?  Only the Lord will know as we continue to follow His leading in offering missionary care.

News and upcoming events

The next Re-Entry will be held in Nashville , TN on Friday and Saturday, November 8-9, 2019.  It will be an intensive two days filled with discussion on subjects such as fitting into the American church and adjusting to American culture. There will be separate classes for children.

Nashville Christians will provide food and housing making the event free to participants.

Our team is eager to spend two days  hearing your stories and sharing ours, and providing you with a refreshing time of learning and fellowship.

Please register as soon as you can in order to attend this free event.

Look for Global Reunion 2020 the end of July. This annual event is actually three concurrent camps for adults in transition as well as TCKs in different age groups.

We appreciate the generous hospitality of Oklahoma Christian University and Memorial Road Church of Christ for providing venues and support in so many ways to make this an annual event to bless, encourage, equip, and minister to individuals and families in transition.

InterNational InterMission

InterMission East Africa 2019 was held during Easter weekend, April 18-22, 2019, at Brackenhurst Conference and Training Centre, Nairobi, Kenya. We were excited by the participation of our largest group at an international InterMission so far!
